Consortium of Scientific Computing and Systems (CS2)
Advancing open access to scientific computing.
What is CS²?
CS² formally launched in 2026 to meet the accelerating demand for computational literacy across education, industry, and research. Built as a volunteer network, we are developing shared infrastructure that strengthens how scientific computing is taught and practiced.
Our inaugural pilots feature the CS² Hackathon Summit, a year-long Spotlight Speaker Series, and classroom-ready toolkits for bringing applied computing into instruction. Every initiative includes open-source resources to support ongoing exploration and project development.
Mission & Vision
Our Mission
Equip students and educators with a shared curriculum and reproducible research infrastructure that make scientific computing accessible everywhere.
2026 Pilot Outcomes
- 50 participants at the inaugural CS² Hackathon Summit
- 3 teachers onboarded for classroom support
- 3 new student chapters launched across universities
- 2 research or industry partnerships
Our Vision
Become the trusted peer of organizations like AIAA or IEEE for inclusive scientific computing, rooted in community co-creation and open tools.
2030 Targets
- Build a federation of 20+ regional chapters and municipal lab partners
- Publish a 50+ module open educational library maintained by members
- Fund annual scholarships and residencies for educators and student leaders
